When she was four years old, Holly discovered an old fiddle in her grandmother’s closet and knew from then on that she wanted to play it. She started taking lessons at the age of 8 and has now been playing the violin for 14 years, obtaining a well rounded education in many different genres of music ranging from classical to fiddle. Her passion lies with Irish fiddle music, although she also plays Scottish, Breton, Swedish, bluegrass, and old-time, placing in the top 5 multiple times in the California State Old-time Fiddle Championships.
Holly has played with a variety of groups including the String Beings Quartet, the Reel Pulling Strings Trio, the Paradise Symphony Orchestra, the Quincy Community Orchestra, and the Chico Pub Scouts. She is currently a member of the High Sierra Heartstrings Quartet, the Stone and Straw Bluegrass Band, and the Irish band Cíana. Holly has been teaching violin/fiddle for seven years and has had the pleasure of studying under and playing with many great musicians including Alasdair Fraser, Natalie Haas, Harald Haugaard, Aryeh Frankfurter, Rebecca Lomnicky, David Brewer, John Skelton, and Dale Russ.
